Stall Mage (core)(please comment) (60 cards) by Theajmonster

[Horde] [Tournament Quality]

I'm trying to put together a frost Mage deck for the tourneys

The hero is Zumix of Kezan--> On your turn (4) flip Zumix, draw two cards.

The idea is somewhat quick with big finishers. Deck has been changed and reflected here.

You might want to consider neptulon as a win condition. A single ability being your entire damage base is not going to work with the many ways to prevent low damage via armor or ability destruction via dispe l magic or righteous cleanse. If you do try neptulon, I would recommend considering frost nova, gilblin deathscrounger, and monstrous frostbolt volley because they give extra field damage aside from revnants.

Ok I've made some changes based off those recommendations. What do you think?

Well, I can pretty clearly see why you have draw issue. 3 matter of times is not exactly a solid quest base. I understand that you will be stashing for late resources but you have no really great options for early draw. you could try crucible to work with twisted or use seeds of their demise for free delve at the beginning of the game to sort through what you will need for a given field. What issues are you running into with this build?

Actually after the card draw changes. ( I dropped flame orb completely, added the quests, dread mist mantle and bottles) the deck is running fairly well. The matter of times are perfect as I run out of cards late game. Is stalling quick and heavy. Damage is slow but it comes late game fairly well. The hero ability helps turn 4 or 5 when I'm stuck with no hand. And the staff builds when I need it. I like the heirlooms be ause of the versatility. Problem I'm having now is aberration control.

If you're still having trouble with abberation, consider frostfire bolt instead of frost nova. its cheaper and unpreventable.

Thats my recent change to alliance mage deck. Has more control and a toolbox feel. The only thing I dislike about the mage is they dont have soul cleave, like the warlocks.

Oh and Mana Agate is better than twisted arcana. I can see twisted arcana being better if you ran sea legs quest or twilight citadel. Even an unstable corruption clone could be could for it but I love mana agate a lot more.

Mana shift is something that can be great for those pesky nature hunters and glaciate isnt necessary if you are using cold front and glacial tomb. Polymorph and Counterspell are great additions too. Polymorph gets rid of amani dragonhawk from warlock toolbox and can help you with ozumat. Sure you take the ten damage but if they are running Ozumat, then you probably have the life to spare for the ten damage. Counterspell is well...its counterspell...

Big fan of this deck i ran something similar at love is in the air and got 3rd. im really liking mage with the new cards. if you can get some i would put in some ice barriers and voodoo masks as they where very strong in my wins.
